Ringing the Bells

Mount Carmel Zion United Church celebrated the 90th anniversary of The United Church of Canada on June 20th, 2015 at 10:30am. To recognize the event, members of the church rang bells to celebrate the many different highlights which occurred from 1925-2015.

Ellis Chapel Begins Summer Season on Sunday June 21st

Our summer season begins on Sunday June 21st. All our services begin with a congregational hymn sing at 2:30 pm and are followed by a social time with refreshments in the chapel garden. See the attached flyer.

Chalmers seeks volunteers for Guelph Community Food Drive

I just wanted to send this call out for volunteers. We're just seeking some volunteers to help out with the Guelph Community Food Drive. If you wouldn't mind just passing the word around, that'd be terrific.

United Churches Are Being Invited to Make a Joyful Noise

Toronto: United Church congregations are being invited to ring their church bells 90 times at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, to mark the 90th anniversary of The United Church of Canada.

“Whether you’re the only United Church in town with a lone church bell ringing, or in a community where it’s possible for many church bells to ring in unison, may we all make a joyful noise to the Lord on June 10,” says the Moderator, the Right Rev. Gary Paterson.

Spaghetti Supper

Spaghetti Supper – Saturday June 6th at Mount Carmel-Zion United Church in Morriston.  – Welcoming Community Friends – Open Doors at 5 pm – Share a Meal – Entertainment – Free Will Offering – Kids Activities – Historical Displays.  CELEBRATING 175 YEARS!  All  Welcome!

Seniors' Potluck Luncheon

Seniors’ Potluck Luncheon – Wednesday, June 3rd at noon (gathering from 11:30 a.m.) – at the Community Centre in Aberfoyle.  Event sponsored by Mount Carmel-Zion United Church in Morriston.  Fun with games after lunch.  Reservations appreciated call Mary Beth at 519-822-6211 or email janetc@sentex.net .  Everyone Welcome – Bring a friend!  Mark your calendar also for the fall potluck on October 7th and the Christmas Dinner on December 2nd.

Chalmers Community Service Centre Annual General Meeting

Chalmers Community Services Centre (CCSC) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, April 12, 2 pm at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.  Please join us to celebrate the success of 2014 and hope for the future of CCSC.  Individuals may vote following registration and a $5 donation and organizations with a $100 donation.  2015 donations of $20 receive free voting rights.  Refreshments will be served at 1:45 pm.

Palm and Easter Sundays

As our 175th Anniversary celebrations continue, we are again looking for those who may be interested in participating.  We have chosen some skits and activities which you may have enjoyed in years gone by.  Please let me know if you and/or other family members and friends might like to take part.   Some of you may now have young children of your own and wish to bring them to take part in the Palm Sunday parade or dress up to be a part of our Easter garden.  Others may simply want to come and share fellowship as we remember and celebrate the events Jesus sacrifice and triumph over death duri
