Youth Forum Notice:

We would like to ask congregations to recall the value of youth participation at the congregational level and the importance at the Conference level. Both youth participation and quality leadership is required to make this a beneficial program for both the youth and the church. Please share the attached notice with your congregation for consideration and with those who are currently at University but may enjoy being part of this program.

Greetings Commissioners and best wishes for 2012.

Another General Council recruitment cycle has begun! In this cycle we are seeking many of the leaders who will serve through the next triennium and carry out the decisions of the coming General Council. As Commissioners, I hope that you will give consideration to whom the Spirit may be calling to serve the church over these next few years.

A list of the current opportunities is included at the end of this message.

Jean Corlett, our custodian at Mount Carmel-Zion UC, has retired from the position as of the end of 2011. In celebration of her ministry with us, we plan to recognize her retirement with a social time after the service on January 15, 2012. Please join us for this special occasion. Donations for a gift should be passed on to the Ministry and Personnel Committee(Gail Huether, Rob Kerr, Carolyn Funkenhauser or Betty Madter) by January 8, 2012. Let's show Jeannie how much she is appreciated!

Moderator Mardi Tindal will be joining with other leaders from around the world at the United Nations climate change conference in South Africa (COP17). Faith Communities from around the world are signing a petition to be offered to world leaders on behalf of Desmond Tutu

White Gift Sunday is December 11. The Rural Women's Support Programme/Women in Crisis distributes our gifts to the 22 women clients and their children in our coverage area. Thankfully, food cards are already being looked after so we have been asked to provide gift cards to help these moms purchase Christmas gifts for their children and/or self-care products (like shampoo, deodorant, hand lotion, etc.) for themselves.
