Where is the United Church heading theologically?
Where should we go?
Where is God leading us?
Peter Wyatt will speak from “the radical middle”– after his ordination in 1969 by Hamilton Conference, at Trinity Church, Kitchener, Peter Wyatt has served as a pastoral minister in four conferences of the United Church, as General Secretary for Theology, Faith and Ecumenism of the General Council and as Principal of Emmanuel College. At Emmanuel he taught in the areas of ecumenism, mission and congregational leadership. While his Th. D. dissertation and continu- ing scholarly interests have their fo- cus on the theology of John Calvin, there are those who suspect him of being a closet Methodist. He is an avid reader of historical and detec- tive fiction, and a swimmer. Together with his high school sweetheart, Joan, he continues to negotiate the path of parenthood with four grown children and their mates.
Youth Participation
We are hoping that our day will be for all ages. We are inviting confirmation classes and youth groups to come, listen and share with each other where they think the church is going. We’ve structured our costs so that Youth can come and will only pay for their lunch! Besides – the church we’re discussing will be theirs and not most of ours.
Costs
The registration for the day is $35 including lunch. We are deeply committed to making this accessible to EVERYONE and let cost not be the barrier to your participation. So, if you cannot afford $35, then please contact Desmond Jagger-Parsons to discuss our bursary options at desmond@tuckitchener.org or 519-742-3578 x.3
