For those of you in the Huntsville area (or can make the trek), please see the attached poster for details about an ecumenical prayer vigil. For more information, please contact Rev. Derek Shelly: trinhunt@vianet.ca
From Thursday June 24 to Saturday June 26, Trinity United Church, Huntsville, in conjunction with the Canadian Council of Churches, will be hosting an ecumenical, inter-faith prayer vigil. The vigil will take place as G8 leaders meet at the nearby Deerhurst Resort.
The purpose of the gathering is two-fold. It will provide a forum for interfaith and ecumenical communities to gather, and will offer a visible act of public witness. Throughout the vigil, participants will hold G8 leaders in prayer, calling for inspired leadership and action with regard to our world today.
The Vigil will take place on the shared green space between Trinity United Church and the Town Hall in downtown Huntsville. A prayer tent will house a sacred flame that will burn throughout the vigil. Folks are invited to drop by as time permits. The prayer tent will be considered a quiet zone, with a separate area set aside for those who wish to participate in discussion, letter writing, walking a labyrinth and other activities.
Hope to see you there,
Erin
