C.G. Jung described individuation as a process of bringing the ego into a creative relationship with the Self. It often requires the ego’s surrender of its position of dominance in the psyche, which is commonly experienced as suffering—depression, loss of meaning, and feelings of failure. A metaphor for this “passion” of the ego can be found in the Stations of the Cross, medieval meditative shrines depicting Christ’s Passion. | ||
